Carterton U3A was established in 2008 and is a member of the Third Age Trust and became branch number 754/733/08 of that organisation.  At the end of 2007, there were 661 U3As in the UK with over 188,000 members and Carterton U3A started with an initial membership of under 70 but by February 2010 we had over 160 paid up members.

We are committed to promoting lifelong education, creative and leisure activities by drawing upon the knowledge, experience and skills of our members.  We organise study and activity groups in accordance with the wishes of the membership.

Carterton U3A is an autonomous, self-financing organisation, which relies solely on members’ subscriptions.  A full programme of talks (one each month), outside visits and special interest groups are arranged. For further details, click on the "Meetings" and "News and Events" Buttons. More than 20 interest groups range from Exploring Genealogy to practical Computing, from Theatre Visits to Steam Engines, from Scrabble to Walking. For further details click on the "Groups" Button.

Carterton U3A is also a member of the Thames Valley Network of U3A’s which organises “study days” and provides and shares information between the various U3As which belong to it. It also provides training days for committee and group leaders to help them in carrying out their respective roles.
